Alhamdulillah wa salatu wa salam ala rasulullah (SAW) amma ba'd... Assalamualikum

 

Many of the people do not really follow what is in their Scripture. Rather they tend to follow its followers or their elders. But sometimes they can be wrong. So the best way you can follow a religion is to look into its Scripture and follow its laws. And In Sha Allah Iam gonna show you some of the things that you never knew existed in Christian Scriptures which are similar to Muslim Scripture.

 

First, I want to introduce you to the scriptures in Christianity and Islam

!--Christian Scripture: The Old Testament consists of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuterenomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.

The New Testament includes Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, Jude, Revelation.

--Muslim Scripture: It is the Quran and Hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad(SAW)). The authentic books of Hadith are Sahih Bukhari collected by Imam Bukhari, Sahih Muslim collected by Muslim b. al-Hajjaj, Sunan Abu Dawood collected by Abu Dawood, Jami al-Tirmidhi collected by al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Sughra collected by al-Nasa'i and Sunan ibn Majah, collected by Ibn Majah.

1. God is One

-"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one" [Deuteronomy 6:4]

"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[Mark 12:29]

-"Say, "He is Allah , [who is] One" [Quran 112:1]

 

2. Associating partners with God is the biggest sin

- “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me," [Exodus 20:2-5]

-"Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin."[Quran 4:48]

 

3. Jesus (PBUH) never claimed to be god.

-"And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." [Acts 2:21]

"My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand." [John 10:29]

(Neither did he claim to be the son of god. According to Bible, anyone who follows God are the sons of God. Bible shows that God has sons by tons and they are sons because they follow God and obey him not because God beget them or Jesus PBUH)

-"They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord."  [Quran 5:72]

 

4. Belief in Prophet Muhmmad (SAW) and following him

-"Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, "Read this, please," they will answer, "I don't know how to read."[Isaiah 29:12] (It refers to the first revelation send to Prophet Muhammad SAW)

"His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem." [Song of Solomon 5:16] (In hebrew, the word mentioned for lovely is מחמד which means Muhammad)

"But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you." [John 16:7] (the advocate here is Prophet Muhammad SAW)

-And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic." [Quran 61:6]

(Prophet Muhammad's SAW name was also Ahmad)

 

5. Prostration

-"Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?" [Joshua 5:14]

-"O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]." [Quran 3:43]

 

6. Fasting

-"However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." [Mathew 17:21]

-"O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous" [Quran 2:183]

 

7. Alcohol is Prohibited

-'Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.' [Proverbs 20:1]

-"O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful." [Quran 5:90]

 

8. Pork is Prohibited

-"The pig is also unclean; although it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses." [Deuteronomy 14:8]

-"Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience." [Quran 5:3]

 

9. Hijab

-"A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this." [

Deuteronomy 22:5]

"But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.' [1 Corinthians 11:5-6]

"I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes". [1 Timothy 2:9]

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[a] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." [Matthew 5:27-28]

-"And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests" [Quran 24:31]

 

10. Jesus (PBUH) was a Muslim

Muslim, by definition, means a person who submits his/her will to God.

-By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just,for I seek not to my will but him who sent me. [John 5:30]

-And Zechariah and John and Jesus and Elias - and all were of the righteous. [Quran 6:85]

 

11. Greetings

-"And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you(Sholam alay kum)." [Luke 24:36]

-'Abdullah bin Salam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "O people, exchange greetings of peace (i.e., say: As-Salamu 'Alaikum to one another), feed people, strengthen the ties of kinship, and be in prayer when others are asleep, you will enter Jannah in peace." [At- Tirmidhi].

 

You may think why did I mention the similarites and not differences. Its reply is given in the Quran:

"Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]." [Quran 3:64]

So, if you are a good christian, you will follow your Scriptures not the followers. And the moment you follow it, you will be a Muslim at heart as you will be following the basic teachings of Islam. All you require to do is take the SHAHADAH (at heart or publicly).
