1. God's Existence

 

Let me give you an analogy: The creation of the Universe and the Earth. How did all this come into existence? There are three possiblities to this:

i) It came from Nothing

ii) It created Itself

iii) It was created by something Created

iv) It was created by something Uncreated

Agreed? Let's carry on.

Now Iam gonna down to each one of these In Sha Allah

 

i) It came from Nothing: Hmm.. What? Read it again. The Universe and the Earth came from nothing? Sound logical and possible? Maybe? Okay. Did anything pop into existence out of nothing? Name me one. Anything? Nah. For example, you had nothing, added a little more nothing, sprinkled a little more nothing, what do you have now? Nothing. Exactly. So how come the Universe come from nothing? So this possibilty is ruled out.  It came from Nothing

 

ii) It created Itself: For a thing to create itself, it has exist and not exist at the same time. And there is nothing that could exist and not exist at the same time. For example, a woman gave birth to herself. For her to give birth, she has to exist and for her to be given birth, she has to not exist. Confusing? Okay. Another situation. Did you exist when your mother was about to give birth to you? No, it was only your mother. So this possibility is ruled out. It was created by something Created. 

I hope you get the point Iam trying to make. If you still find it confusing, read it again with a little more concentration. In Sha Allah, you will understand it.

 

iii) It was created by something Created: For example, if Universe 1 was due to Universe 2 which was due to Universe 3 which was due to Universe 3, this would go on. And we would never the Universe we are in. This is known as Infinite Regression of Causes. Let me give you another example. Imagine your a Marine and you want to shoot a bird. But you have to ask permission from your senior Marine and he has to ask to his senior Marine who has to ask to his senior Marine. Imagine this went on infintely. Will you be get the permission? Will you be able to shoot the bird? No, ofcourse not. This is the same with our universe. If it was created by something created which was due to something else created, this would go on forever and we would never come into existence. Hence, this possibility is ruled out. It was created by something Created

 

iv) It was created by something Uncreated: This is our last possibility left. So if all the other 3 possibilities are ruled out, then it has be to the final and fourth possibilty, i.e. it was created by something Uncreated. God, by definition, means uncreated. If you have got a problem with this word God, you can also tell it to be The Creator.

 

Conclusion: There is a Creator who created the Universe and everything in it, including us.
