Alhamdulillah wa salatu wa salam ala rasulullah (SAW) amma ba'd... Assalamualikum
4. Prophethood
We, Muslims, believe in Prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus (upon them all be peace) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) claimed he was the Messenger of the Creator. Now there are four possibilities to this:
i) He was Lying
ii) He was Deluded
iii) He was Lying and Deluded
iv) He was speaking the Truth
Now let's go in detail of each of this possibility.
i) He was Lying: From his biography we can know that even his enemies in Makkah entrusted him with their valuable items, that is why before his migration to Madinah, he asked Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A) to stay in Makkah to give back these things to their owners. If he was a liar and dishonest person, his followers maybe would trust him but his enemies? He was tortured, was left hungry and suffered extensively yet, he kept on saying that: "Worship Allah Alone, for He is your Lord and Iam the Messenger of Allah." His profile is VERY different from that of a liar. So we can rule out this possibility. He was Lying
ii) He was Deluded: Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught us to spread peace (Salam), be compassionate, feed the poor and hungry, love one another, respect elderly, be humble, justice, and many other noble ways of life.
Let me give you an instance. "Narrated: Al-Mughira bin Shuba:On the day of Ibrahim's death, the sun eclipsed and the people said that the eclipse was due to the death of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet). Allah's Apostle said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of someone's death or life. So when you see them, invoke Allah and pray till the eclipse is clear." [Al Bukhari] If he was deluded, he would use it to support his delusion. But rather he commanded people to pray to Allah. So we can rule out this possibility. He was Deluded
iii) He was Lying and Deluded: So now we know he wasnt lying and he wasnt deluded. Putting them together would mean the same thing. But let me give you an instance. Many of his Prophecies came true. For example, he foretold that from his family the first person to die after his death would be his daughter, Fatima (RA). And it was true. She was the first person to die after he passed away. So we can rule out this possibility. He was Lying and Deluded
iv) He was speaking the Truth: We are left with the last possibility. Since all the other three are wrong, then it is the fourth possibility that is the Truth, i.e. he was speaking the truth.
Conclusion: Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of the Creator (Allah).
If I made any mistakes, it was from Shaytan and my own mistakes. If anything you find is useful, is from Allah as He guides whom He wills.
JazakAllahu Khairan. BarakAllah Fekkum and Salam...
